‘Silo’ Season 3 Filming Wraps Up—Juliette’s Journey Is One Step Closer to Our Screens!

I’ve been on the edge of my seat ever since Silo Season 2 ended with that jaw-dropping finale, and now there’s big news to celebrate: production has officially wrapped on Silo Season 3! Apple TV+ shared the update on May 3, 2025, with a behind-the-scenes photo on social media, showing the cast and crew marking the milestone. As a huge fan of this dystopian sci-fi gem, I’m so excited to see what’s next for Juliette Nichols and the underground world of Silo. Let’s dive into what this means, where the story might be headed, and when we can expect to return to Silo 18!

A Major Milestone for a Gripping Series

Silo, based on Hugh Howey’s Wool trilogy, has been a standout hit on Apple TV+ since its debut in 2023. The show follows the last 10,000 people on Earth, living in a massive underground silo to escape a toxic outside world—or so they’re told. Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette Nichols, an engineer-turned-sheriff who’s been unraveling the silo’s dark secrets, and her journey has kept me hooked through two incredible seasons. Season 2, which aired from November 15, 2024, to January 17, 2025, left us with a massive cliffhanger: Juliette and Bernard (Tim Robbins) trapped in a fiery airlock after her return to Silo 18. I’ve been dying to know what happens next, and this filming wrap brings us one step closer!

Filming for Season 3 kicked off in October 2024 in the UK, at Hoddesdon Studios and OMA One and OMA X Film Studios in Enfield, London. Showrunner Graham Yost had already shared that Seasons 3 and 4 were being shot back-to-back, with just a short break in between, so the wrap on Season 3 means they’re likely rolling right into Season 4 now. The cast and crew’s celebration posts on social media were full of joy, and I can feel their excitement—it’s clear this story means a lot to everyone involved.

What’s Coming in Season 3?

Season 2 expanded the Silo universe in huge ways, showing us the desolate world outside and introducing Silo 17, where Juliette met Solo (Steve Zahn), a survivor with his own secrets. Back in Silo 18, rebellion was brewing, and the finale dropped a bombshell with a flashback to 300 years ago, hinting at the origins of the silos. Now, Season 3 is set to dig even deeper into those mysteries. Yost has teased that the season will split its focus between the present-day dystopia and a pre-apocalyptic world, showing us what led to humanity’s underground life. I’m so curious to see how those two timelines connect!

The Season 2 finale left Juliette and Bernard’s fates up in the air (literally, in that fiery airlock). Juliette’s fire-resistant suit gives me hope she’ll make it, but Bernard’s odds don’t look great—Yost has hinted he’s “not in a good position.” We’ll also see more of Silo 17, though Yost warned it’ll still be pretty dark there due to power issues (guess I’ll be cranking up my TV’s brightness again!). On the brighter side—literally—Season 3 will include outdoor scenes with sunlight, a big shift from the show’s usual dim, underground vibe. I can’t wait to see how that changes the tone.

New cast members are joining the party, too. Ashley Zukerman and Jessica Henwick, who appeared in Season 2’s final flashback as congressman Daniel and reporter Helen, are now series regulars. Their story will explore the silos’ origins, with Yost describing it as a “political conspiracy thriller” with a romantic twist. I’m expecting to see returning stars like Common as Robert Sims, Harriet Walter as Martha Walker, and maybe Steve Zahn as Solo, though Apple hasn’t confirmed the full cast yet. Sadly, we won’t see Tim Robbins, Iain Glen, or Tanya Moodie back after their characters’ exits in Season 2.

When Can We Expect Season 3?

Now that filming has wrapped, the big question is: when will Season 3 hit Apple TV+? Looking at past timelines, Season 1 filmed for nine months and premiered about 10 months later in May 2023. Season 2 filmed from June 2023 to March 2024 (with a strike delay) and premiered in November 2024, roughly eight months after wrapping. Since Season 3 filmed from October 2024 to May 2025, I’d guess we’re looking at a late 2025 or early 2026 release—maybe around November 2025 if post-production moves quickly, especially since they’re filming Season 4 right after. Some fans on social media are even speculating an October 2025 drop, but I think that might be a bit optimistic given the show’s complex visual effects.

Speaking of Season 4, it’s already confirmed as the final chapter, wrapping up the Wool trilogy’s story across four seasons. Yost has promised a “satisfying conclusion” to the silo’s mysteries, and I’m already bracing myself for an emotional ride. The back-to-back filming should mean a shorter gap between Seasons 3 and 4, which is great news—I don’t think I could handle another long wait after Season 3’s inevitable cliffhanger!

Why I’m So Excited

Silo has been one of my favorite shows because it’s more than just a dystopian thriller—it’s about hope, truth, and the messy, human fight to survive. Juliette’s courage keeps me rooting for her, and the world-building is unreal (that silo set is insane!). The show’s also been a critical darling, with Season 1 earning an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and Season 2 upping the ante at 96%. Fans online are just as thrilled about the filming wrap, with some calling it “the best sci-fi on TV right now.” I can’t argue with that!

I do have one tiny worry, though: the show’s lighting has been a bit too dark for some viewers, and while Yost says Season 3 will have brighter outdoor scenes, we’ll still be in dim Silo 17 for parts of it. I hope they find a balance so we can fully appreciate the incredible sets and performances. But honestly, that’s a small gripe for a show this good.

What’s Next?

With production wrapped, we’re now in the waiting game for a trailer and an official release date. In the meantime, I’ll probably rewatch Seasons 1 and 2 on Apple TV+ to catch all the clues I missed. If you haven’t jumped into Silo yet, now’s the perfect time—it’s a binge-worthy ride that’ll leave you hungry for more. What are you most excited to see in Season 3? Do you think Juliette and Bernard will make it out of that airlock? Let’s chat about it—I’m all ears!
